AskApache Google 404 Plugin for WordPress

I have to give this plugin some serious props. It saved me tons of time, AskApache Google 404 is the BEST redirection plugin ever. This is why I think it is so amazing.

Today, I moved my main blog from the root directory to a subdirectory. I thought that I was going to have to go blog by blog and create custom redirects for everything (which would have taken forever), but I didn’t. I just installed AskApache Google 404 and configured a few parameters, and like magic, everything is all set. All of my old URLs automatically redirect to my new URLs. Any page that would not otherwise be found is presented by an incredibly user/SEO friendly search page that will bring up blogs with similar keywords and tags.

If you are going to move your blog from one directory to another, do it, and use this great plugin to make life so much easier.

    This is great! I usually redirect my old URLs thru the use of .htaccess’ 301 redirect command. This might be very useful later. Thanks.

    I just went to WordPress Extensions to read about theplug in. It looks like a good one, except I don’t like the idea of the Google Search Results. I think this could easily be misconstrued by visitors as an intentional redirect for advertising purposes. I’m not sure the average person knows what a 404 error is and why it is generated.
