SEO Web Design – In my opinion, the best SEO starts from the foundation of any website. If done right, a website can be extremely search engine friendly even before you start bardering for backlinks. If you can create an overall concept to a site that points to one specific keyphrase or initiative, that is the best possible way to start.

Now, when I look at the marketability of a website, there are a few things that I will look at. Most SEO companies will only look at your website from a search engine’s point of view, which is not necessarily your end-user’s point of view. This is just stupid. You can get all the traffic in the world, and if your site is not inviting or if the layout is confusing – you are going to lose a lot of valuable leads. You need to make sure that your site is easy to navigate and all of your main focus points are visible when your customer lands on your site. I recommend keeping a simple, yet professional homepage, and letting your users decide where they want to go from there, but don’t give them too many option. If you have too many pages, or too many menu items, you are just going to confuse your potential customers, and they will go somewhere else that is less obtrusive.

Understand that your customers do not know as much as you do - When people come to a website, they do not want to read some bland information about something that they may not know about. If they are looking to hire an expert, they probably are not familiar with all of the jargon, so you will make them feel dumb, and they will probably go with a company that they can relate to.  I found this out the hard way. I thought that my potential customers would respect how much I know, so I got STUPID technical on my old website. I did not get any good leads. I found out that my site confused people by someone who was referred to me by a prior client. I sent this guy to my website to see a list of service. He called me and said that the information was over his head. I felt horrible. I made a vow that I would never do it again.

Be Original – This is where the vast majority of website miss the mark. They use other site ideas and themes, and don’t spend enough time being true to their business. Be clever. Make things simple and funny. Entertain your potential customers. But don’t let it end on your site; make it happen in your phone calls, emails, and blogs. If you are giving information that the customer can find anywhere, they likely will go elsewhere..
